I think it's because the USASK portal updates every night around 1-2 am, and the committee works from 8-4 pm Mon-Fri. So suppose a decision was made near the end of their shift on a Thursday, the portal will update at 2 am, and the applicant will get an email the day after saying the portal updated regarding their application. But if you check the portal every Mon-Fri, you can beat the email notification because it is typically 12-24 hours late.

I don’t know why personally, maybe just the order they re reviewed borderline applicants? But I doubt it’s any indication of anything, I wouldn’t stress too much about if you were later or earlier on that notification. I saw you got accepted to Windsor too. First off congratulations! Are you still waiting for USask or taking Windsor?

I'm confused, so why are people getting waitlist letters at different times? Does anyone know the reason?

Got the wait list letter today on the portal. No email yet. Hoping to get off as I received rejections from other schools and wait list from Umanitoba (position 150+). Best of luck to everyone here.

I had an interview with the Canadian Medical Association on June 10th, and I heard back that they selected another candidate this morning.

Anything from UBC yet? Was hoping to hear something before registering for classes at home school…

If you interviewed at both you should go to the one where to liked the fellow associates more. It's a tough job you should at least enjoy the people you work with.

Hi everyone, Considering how helpful everyone was, I just wanted to share an update. Unfortunately, I was rejected from all the schools I applied to — TMU, York, U of T, uOttawa, and Western (though I didn't want to live in London anyway). My one and only shot at the LSAT for the Fall 2025 intake was in January 2025 — I scored was a 154. My cGPA is 3.10 (Note - I mentioned in my OP that my GPA was 3.7 but Ryerson apparently uses a weird GPA measurement that is NOT what OLSAS uses). So, not going to turn heads with those scores. BUT — I retook it in early June 2026 and I'm expecting better. I was PT’ing in the 159–165 range leading up to it, whereas before I was stuck around 150–155. I plan to reapply for Fall 2026, this time under the Access/Mature category. That wasn't an option last cycle due to timing, but I think that, plus a higher LSAT (hopefully 160–163), should help. I'm also working on strengthening my soft factors. I'm hoping the community can help me again. I think I translated my work experience well into my personal statements. Without going into myopic detail, I focused on systemic issues in my industry and how I hope to address them through a legal career. That said, I don’t know if I actually want to go into entertainment or business law — I leaned into it rhetorically to show I understood the field and had a plan. Is it important to be super specific about the kind of law you want to pursue, or better to emphasize relevant work experience and transferable skills? I'm also debating whether to address my low cGPA more directly. I had a rough few years early in undergrad (general rut), but I pulled things together in my final year where I graduated with a perfect thesis score and we won every award for the graduating class. I mentioned that briefly last time, but maybe it deserves more focus? Finally, I'm trying to find work in Business Affairs within my current industry. It's legal adjacent stuff like service agreements, salaries, funding agreements, etc. It's as close to a legal job without being a legal job. Do you think it's worthwhile for the soft factors on my application to find something more directly legal? Something like Legal Assistant or Executive Assistant or something like that? I doubt it pays well but it might be worth it in the long run if I get into law school. Likewise, I can try to make time for volunteer work. You think legal work is helpful? Thanks again everyone!😀

Delayed post but I was rejected. 3.10, 154, strong soft factors. I'm going to reapply under Access for Fall 2026 with an improved LSAT which I should've done the first time.

I am a 3rd year litigator with offers to lateral to either Gowling or Dentons. Which firm would you choose. Why and why not? Toronto.

I also have a very non-traditional background (niche STEM field) plus some work experience in tech, so I'm sharing my experience in case it helps. The advice I got was to honestly tell my story of why I want to go to law school after studying and working in STEM. I think you have a unique story that will help you stand out from other applicants, which is going to be helpful to you. You should tell that story in your statements of interest. Law and AI is a growing area, showing interest in it might also catch the admission offices' attention (though I'm speculating here). I don't think anything you've talked about is going to be detrimental. But like others have said, improving your LSAT score will help make you more competitive. A higher score can help offset a lower undergrad average.

Most wills and estate work is done at small shops. So you'll need to do the leg work, identify a number of firms and start reaching out. A personable cold email would likely go a long way.
