Chance me: Cgpa 2.57, LSAT TBD

Hi all, I need some advice. I never took my undergrad seriously, hence my horrible CGPA. I am strongly considering going to the UK for law school (which is self explanatory). However, I am curious to know if I'll have a fighting change at being accepted in any law school in Canada with a strong LSAT score as well as a good explanation for my low cgpa. My final two years were not great either. I had a three C+, one D and unfortunately one F that tanks my last two years significantly.

The bottom line is that I would rather not be so far from home, or pay an arm and a leg for a law degree that may not have such a great ROI. Please let me know what you guys think.

Why law school? If you never took undergraduate seriously, what makes you think you’ll take law school seriously?

It’s very unlikely any school in Canada will let you in, even with a stellar LSAT. I think you should look into other careers.

In my opinion, you don't stand a chance to gain admissions at any law school in Canada - even at the lowest tier law schools like TMU, Windsor, TRU etc.

The path to law via the UK has been discussed ad nauseam on this forum (use the search bar to learn more). What I'll say is that when you come back to Canada and apply for articling jobs you're going to be asked for undergrad transcripts. UK law grads are already set back by virtue of not having a Canadian JD. Many employers already assume that students who go to the UK did so because they were incapable of getting into a Canadian school. Their assumptions will be proven correct when an employer sees your undergrad GPA. An applicant with a 2.57 undergrad GPA and a UK law degree would be incredibly behind the eight ball.

@CleanHands I totally missed this.

@dantheman1887 if you’re looking to dishonestly manufacture a reason for your low cGPA, then don’t bother with this field. You’re already starting it off with lying.

My LSAT tutor got into TRU law with a 2.X gpa, his undergrad gpa was low 70%'s but his LSAT was a 172 and he was a manager at a national accounting firm and passed all the CPA exams.

I got into Queens with 2.8 cGPA and 165 LSAT but my L2/B2 is 3.8. For 2.57 cGPA without L2/B2 at top 25 percentile, chance of getting into any law school is slim, if not zero, without 170+ LSAT.
