Applied to all Ontario schools. Rejected from UofT, Osgoode and Western.

Still waiting to hear from Ottawa, Laskin, and Queens.

Waitlisted at TMU & Windsor.

I'm re-starting my LSAT prep as I don't feel confident in getting in this late in the cycle. A pleasant surprise is that I'm PTing in the high 160's after a week or so of picking up studying again.

I didn't want to turn my "why Law School" into a sob story. I only applied general, but wondering if applying access or discretionary for next cycle would boost my chances. I intend to apply more broadly and would not rule out a move out West or to the Maritimes. My low cGPA is due to my last two years- in my sophomore year stuff happened, and I suffered mental health setbacks that are fully resolved now.

For context I graduated in 2023 (25 right now), currently work in Tech sales, so not exactly a KJD, but not a mature applicant either.

Would you spend the 4-6 months, considering financial costs (prep courses, LSAC, etc.) and the serious time commitment that raising my score by a few points would mean?

I know that successful splitters tend to have higher GPA's in their latter years, whereas I'm exactly the opposite.

I am not an experienced person in university applications at all myself, but I have been tracking this forum for a while now.

I would say wait a few more weeks to hear from other schools.

Also, your LSAT score is not bad at all. I have seen many other people who have been admitted with way lower scores in this forum. So the GPA seems to be more of an issue, which you can't do anything about now. If this year it doesn't work, I would suggest you work on your softs/ relevant volunteering and also apply to other schools with more flexible requirements.

Not saying to turn your SOP into a sob story, but you can definitely give them a reason why the GPA is low to answer their questions and give you a chance.

Lastly, please note that applying for discretionary is not for people who simply have lower stats or are mature. It's for people who don't meet the general requirements, but have other qualifications in their background and so their applications get reviewed in a holistic way (and not just based on numbers). For example, someone in their late 20s might have a lower GPA from before, but has been working in a related field for several years. So, of course, it's only logical to assume that their work experience can cover the GPA to some extent.

I got into Queens and WL from Qz and Western with the same LSAT and 3.8 B2/L2. LSAT at 168+might get you cross the line.

Worst case you "waste" 100 hours and 200-300$ because you get off a wait-list.

I'd hop back onto the LSAT prep if I were in your shoes.

I have the same stats as you give or take, 3.0 (76%) cGPA and 3.36 B2 GPA. 163 LSAT. 4 years of military experience. I am applying next cycle to all schools. I will be writing the August LSAT to try and get a higher score.

What was your GPA in percentage? When will you find out about whether you're offered a spot from the waitlist?

Hey, I'm also at 3.0 (2.9 with OLSAS) so it should be at around 73-76%. Good luck with your applications. Make sure you really polish that PS, and of course, lock in for the LSAT studying.

I believe June and July would be when there begins to be movement in the WL.
