This could come across as not being interested in both firms…

I agree too. It's pretty known that the reason firms hold events at the same time is to make you choose. Pick the one you have the most interest in or you most likely will not get an offer from either firms unfortunately.

And keep in mind that you should treat every advice on this forum with a grain of salt...🏃‍♂️

My second interview with a regional firm was also 25 minutes and I got invited to their final event, so maybe that's just their way of doing things?

During the first interview, you usually get lawyers with 1-2, maybe 3 years of experience. During the second, it's usually associates and they are way busier than juniors so 25 minutes makes sense to me.

For students with a big interest for corp but who are also looking for a firm with a good culture, what would be your fist choice and why?!

I obviously don't know all firms, but my feeling is:

NRF: Great culture, very inclusive + great files - everybody I met was so nice

Fasken: Great culture, young, great files but a little more on the startup side - depending what you prefer. cool vibe.

Stike: Probably the biggest files, but not sure about the culture - more shark

I haven't met with McCarthy, but heard good things.

J’hésite beaucoup entre McCarthy et Norton Rose 😪 any advice?

Ca dépend ce que tu veux faire. Si tu veux pratiquer en respo médicale, McT is the obvious choice. Si tu veux faire du Corp, then Norton for sure.

You can't go wrong with Stikeman or Davies, if corp is what you want. Norton and Fasken are also really good.

I think that the worries around the culture at Stikeman are overblown. However, from what I hear from students at all the firms, if you have the choice you should go to Davies. They are more selective but their culture is a little 'friendlier' than Stikeman, ANECDOTALLY. In reality I bet there isn't a huge differences among any of the firms.

Got an offer at 9:00 from my « second choice » (1st ex æquo?). Did not hear anything from NovaLex, my « first choice », after my second interview (I had a virtual coffee with one of their lawyers afterwards but no call this morning)….
Do people ever get offers past 11?

Should I wait, still?

Just curious - did anyone else here get a bad reaction when rejecting a firm’s offer yesterday? I know I shouldn’t dwell on it but it’s leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Paraphrasing but was essentially told I made the wrong decision and something about them being my opposing counsel. Idk it was very uncomfortable and unnecessarily salty.

I tried my best to be polite but wow did that confirm I made the right choice I think
