Anyone else feel like they are pressured to take on way more files than they can handle, as litigation is a high volume business, resulting in files sometimes being missed and not being to attend to files as well as you could have? I’m in L&E, I’ve got 80-100 files which are all active at any given time. Working 12 hour days doesn’t seem enough to deal with all the cry babies, but making a comment to your bosses won’t bode well.

Your thread title is client management but this sounds more like a workplace management problem.

Given a yearly target of hours to bill and a desire to be helpful, yes I feel pressure to take on files. That said, if I am truly too busy, I will say no.

If your boss reacts poorly to you saying you are too busy when you are working 12 hour days, I’d look for work elsewhere.
