JD Advantage Jobs?

I recently graduated from law school and decided that I'm really not feeling articling, particularly in the immediate future. Ideally I'd like to use my JD to do something slightly less structured and more creative. I was wondering if anyone has experience with going straight from law school to something not directly law related. I know that going from a J.D to Ibanking or MBB Consulting is coveted, but thats not really what I have in mind. Particularly interested if anyone has experience in start-ups, political strategy, small business consulting or non-profit work.

I’ve worked in IB, small business consulting and non-profit but before a JD, not sure if that’s helpful or what your looking for as I haven’t graduated but have experience in similar fields your interested in.

Perhaps if you need something in the immediate future that is in the realm of business or non-profit work, you can try looking for contract management or specialists positions for a company or public entity.

I have personal experience being a contract management intern and the work is very legal-adjacent. You'll mainly be working alongside project managers and in-house counsel to review the terms of various contracts (specifically contracts that aren't reviewed by outside counsel) while learning more about the specific industry of your employer. It's not consulting work, but it seems like a solid alternative to articling. All the best on your search!
