Is There A Best Strategy For Picking 2nd & 3rd Year Courses?

Hello everybody 🙂

While I'm sure that there are no 'bird courses' in law school, the data in this link ( https://law.robsonhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Exam-Stats-April-2022.pdf ) makes it seem that there are law courses, at least at Robson Hall, which may be graded easier than others. Although I don't have to cross this bridge for a while, this info has me wondering if it would be advantageous for me to pick 2nd and 3rd year courses based solely off of how they relate to my field of interest in law or whether it would be better to take potentially easier courses in the hopes of getting the highest grades possible.

From reading forum posts online I've formed the impression that 1st year grades matter the most for articling, but 2nd and 3rd year grades can still be important for those with less than 5 years under their belt.

I guess I'm also asking whether firms or boutiques care more about overall grades or more about how relevant your course selection is in relation to the position being sought? Maybe the answer is a bit of both? This is all uncharted territory for me so I would appreciate any guidance.
