Scotia LOC - Proof of Articling

I just received an email requesting proof that I am still a student to prevent my LOC from converting to repayment.

How have others established they are still an articling student? Specifically, what form of proof have people used? A letter from your law society? Or a letter from a principal?

Thanks.

Do you have an articling contract? An offer of employment?

You can probably reply to the bank in the interim and say you’re working on it but won’t have it for a bit, and they’ll leave you alone for now. They’ve been asking me since April and I only just submitted my contract.

I just submitted a printout from my profile on the Law Society of Alberta's my account page listing my articling term. I don't think they really have a specific document they look for.

Update: they wouldn’t accept my contract because it specified my term as 10 months instead of providing a specific end date. They asked me to have HR send them a statement saying my last date would be June 2, 2023. I found this wildly frustrating because obviously a 10 month contract starting Aug 2 would end on June 2, and they even acknowledged the date in their email to me.

So whatever you submit, make sure it has your specific end date on it, I guess.
