Hi there,

Just wondering, for those who have mooted: what is the general distribution of grades for moots? I have heard that everyone who participates in moots usually gets a high grade. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If I enroll in a moot, put in the work, should I expect to get a good grade? What if I lose the moot?

Different schools might vary a bit, but at Western last year the lowest grade for a moot was B+ and there was only one.

The vast majority of moot participants were in the A range.

At Calgary it's virtually a guaranteed A. If you win, maybe A+ (not that Calgary's GPA scale differentiates between A and A+).

The one I did was typically A- but we won something and got As.

Which one was that? I am doing the Gale Cup in March.

My understanding is that every moot is pretty much a guaranteed A (at my school, at least).

At U of T, moots are pass/fail. One can choose to be graded, but this entails writing a paper (which no one really chooses to do, so I don't know about grade distribution).

Moots are just for credits at UBC. I don't think they're even pass/fail since I don't know anyone who's actually "failed."
