Besides a general Family law course, what other courses would you recommend for students in 2L or 3L to take if they want to go into family law?

I'm out of my league here but I can see value in courses like Restitution or Trusts. Maybe an dispute resolution or trial advocacy course too?

The issue is that family law can touch on a little bit of everything.

From my perspective (I'm probably forgetting a few):

Most important:

Taxation

Mediation/Negotiation/Advocacy/Arbitration/ADR

Legal clinics, especially if in the area of family law

Useful:

Wills

Trusts

Bankruptcy

Real estate

Appellate Practice

Advanced Civil Procedure

This is a useful list.

To add:

Trial Advocacy

Child Protection - if your law school offers that

Criminal Procedure might be helpful as well (at minimum, know clients' Charter rights).
