Did anyone else find it a little odd how last night the French JD students received all of the medals?

I’m sure those students are brilliant and worked hard, but the English and French programs are almost entirely separate: different professors, different pedagogy, a different cohort you’re graded against, etc.

You would think the medals would be awarded to each faculty respectively.

It's students in the combined PoliSci-JD and BComm-JD programs that clean up the awards.  The awards are based on your GPA.  If you are taking bachelors PoliSci classes during your law degree, you GPA is likely to be higher.  PoliSci classes grades aren't curved, and they are undergrad classes so do not have the same demands or structure as law classes.  It is my opinion that these combined programs should be considered separately for awards and GPA-dependant decisions (like scholarships, Dean's List and Fellows, etc) as there is an unfair advantage there.
