Hey! Just wondering what the process is like and how long it takes to actually get your license after you’ve passed the bar exams.

barrister results were released today. Good luck to everyone!

If you're in Ontario:

Once you've satisfied all the licensing requirements (good character, articling/LPP, exams, etc.), you still have to get called to the bar -- either with a ceremony or administratively.

Check when the LSO's call dates are. Usually July, Sept, and a date in the Winter (March?). So if you have already articled, and pass both exams this summer, you'll likely be eliglble for the administrative call in September/October.

I believe the old, COVID-era "rolling calls" are done, so you are limited to the call dates.

Thanks so much! I was also wondering if I can apply to jobs prior to the administrative call date and just advise them that I wouldn’t be able to start until I am called?

I checked LSO website and there’s no admin call dates yet just one ceremony in October.
