I know that the in person orientation is on September 3rd, but I am not really sure what to expect. Could someone let me know what happened on their orientation and what we are supposed to wear?

Not a UO student, but just show up wearing clean clothes.

Don't be the one person in the room wearing a suit. You'll either feel immediately self-conscious, or worse: you won't.

Incoming 1L at Queen's. I think you wear what makes you most comfortable. No need to overthink. Just be yourself, wear what you feel is best. I am likely just gunna wear dark (navy/black) jeans and a button down shirt with sneakers!

Wear nice but still casual clothing (i.e. t-shirts, jeans, casual button-downs, etc). Only wear business casual if you're told to by orientation staff. For example, you might be told to dress in professionally appropriate clothing if you have an important guest speaker coming, such as a judge.

Hope this helps 🙂

If you don’t wear a suit, you won’t be judged and you will likely find social acceptance, but it will be a mistake. Wear a suit. On Fridays you can wear it with no tie👍

I'm a 2L at UOttawa and I remember most people dressed clean and casual last year. Some came dressed in suits but they were in the minority.

It was so unbearably hot last year, but I saw people in tshirts all the way to a full suit. Wear whatever you want, but there’s nothing in particular that you have to wear. There will be hundreds of people there; no one will remember what you wore at orientation. 2L at uottawa here.

Last year (September 2023) there was probably an hour of outdoor speakers in the morning. It was also +30C or warmer. I saw one girl collapse from the heat.

With that in mind, I didn't wear a suit or anything particularly nice. So wear whatever you want, but if its hot be prepared to sweat.

Your first week or two will be deceptively easy. You do not need to worry at all about what you wear.

My advice is figure out your essential readings and stuff the profs post online and work on them so you never get behind. In 6 weeks, you'll be glad.
