Not at all. On call day for the 1L recruit, I got a ring at 8:45 from a firm I never got an ITC from and I know they sent the ITC to others. Some firms also don't do ITCs and will just call you, and don't forget there are firms that don't do OCIs (Cozen, Baker, Paul Wiess), and you can only hear from them on call day. It ain't over till it's over.

echoing what GoldenBoy said it's not over, but if you end up not having a job don't be too discouraged. the majority of oz students don't get a job from this recruit and end up fine. I may be in the same boat, just have to see how it goes

Agreed with the main thrust of what GoldenBoy said, although note that Cozen, Baker McKenzie and Paul, Weiss are not non-OCI firms in the current recruit. They've all sent out ITCs (at least at UofT, but I imagine elsewhere as well). You might hear from them on Call Day, but not because they're non-OCI.

You got the same email? I just thought it was strange others got PFOs earlier and I'm getting one now to "help me prepare for call day but they may still keep me in mind"

Yeah, I suspect people who got it earlier were lower on their alternative list. If you're getting it today like I did, my uninformed guess is that you were on a list of alternates originally. Though that's all just a guess.

If we didn’t get an ITC from a firm we were really hoping for, could we email them today to ask where we stand with them? Or does that look bad?

Given that firms aren't even required to ITC before call day - I think it would be seen as unusual.
