Articling Salaries –– What to expect?

I came across this PDF from the Law Society of BC that contains a survey relating to the monthly salaries of articling students in the province. While the PDF doesn't state if the pay is gross or net, I am surprised to see just how low articling salaries are (if one assumes that the survey is correct –– no source is provided either). Big law salaries are about 80k in vancouver based on what the firms themselves have posted and threads here. But based on the PDF, would it be safe to presume that non-biglaw students should expect between 45 - 60k per year?

45k to 60k sounds about right for non-big law, non-criminal law firms in Vancouver and GVA.
