Quick question:

Textbook readings have snippets of cases that they want to highlight and discuss. Should our annotated notes focus on just those passages alone? Or should I look up the case and take notes on the whole thing? Or is it contextual?

I wouldn’t go beyond the snippets they assign in class. The full case likely has issues and topics that are outside of the scope and will just be confusing.

Focus the most on what the prof highlights about the case in class and the snippet in the textbook. Most important is knowing why that case is in the textbook and how it contributes to the law as it stands today (even if it’s old - it might show the evolution)

Much appreciated!

Just focus on the snippets; they should have everything you need to know. At most you may want to take a closer look at the facts of a case, but it really isn’t necessary.
