Needing insight on Legal Aid BC - Family Limited Contracts

Hi there,

I'm trying to ascertain the scope of work covered in a Family Limited Contract. Given that it only authorizes 16 hours, I need to know how much work I'm signing up for. 

I’ve read the description on Legal Aid BC’s website, but it’s vague.

I'd really appreciate any insight you may have.

I do some Legal Aid, but I have only taken standard contracts for myself. I have had counsel on a limited contract on the other side and they are usually only around for 1-2 appearances and some related negotiations, communications etc before filing a notice of removal. I think the limited contract envisions just one appearance. 

Are you just starting to take Legal Aid files? I think if you limit them to 10% of your total file load that's a good way to not get overwhelmed, assuming that you have other work and Legal Aid is an addition you are doing for the contribution or experience (which is what your post sounded like to me).
