Chance Me - GPA 3.88 / 3.90 LSAT 147

I am looking to get into the 2024 cycle. My first LSAT score is 147 and my cumulative GPA is 3.88. Would this be enough to get into BC schools (UBC, UVIC, TRU)? Or is there a better chance elsewhere?

Softs: Worked in healthcare for 7 years, worked as a corporate trainer for 2 years. Owned and operated a business for 7 years.

With your cGPA you'd need at least a 164 for a good shot at UBC, and maybe a 163 for UVIC. TRU you'll likely be good with a 160+.

You need to get your LSAT up.

@MyWifesBoyfriend Is right, you will need to get your LSAT up.

Depending on how your L2 GPA is, you may have a chance at TRU with an LSAT score not much higher.  Towards the end of the cycle you'll see a few people get in at TRU with scores in the low 150s, so there's always a chance, especially for someone like yourself with really good experience.  Definitely shoot for a score in the 160s, but I'd say you'd have a chance (albeit low) somewhere with a score 5-10 points higher.  I'd also look into UCalgary, as they have a holistic admission process, and I'm sure they would value your business experience, although you'd still need a higher LSAT.

Good luck!

To add to the others, you should really rethink what you're doing for LSAT prep (unless you wrote it with very short notice). A 147 is really low

To bounce off this idea, if you decide that you are going to take another year to apply to law school, many schools offer virtual LSAT prep programs over the summer.  This would be seriously something to consider if you can't seem to improve your score.  Some require a fee waiver but not all of them (I know UofC, UofA, UofT have for sure have these programs, but I'm assuming UBC and many others would as well).

Thanks everyone for your input, I will work on improving my score to at least 160 before applying

Not going to say this is bad advice, but this is not within everyone’s budget. Some starter material (Loophole, PowerScore, PTs from Z Library) can suffice.

I think it is within OP's budget

Perhaps, but I would want to look at how OP is studying. 147 is very low - they must be making some basic mistakes, that you don't need a tutor to solve
