I'm curious to hear from upper year or graduated students. What was the first year moot like? How hard were the questions? Is the class open for anyone to come in and watch?

It’s fun. Have fun with it.

I'm not sure if the class is open for people to watch but it is highly unlikely anyone would come unless they were invited in to that particular rooms. There are many rooms running at the same time, in the evening, and it is frankly not that interesting for someone not involved in it to watch.

It is potentially fun if you put in the time and effort and try to learn from the experience and embrace questions. Since it is not graded, you don't have to worry about a letter grade as long as you put in the effort to know the details of your case and practice presenting, even if you are nervous you will still pass.

If you are worried about the questions: They know you are nervous, they know you are in 1L, they are not trying to trip you up. In my experience it was more along the lines of having a bit of a discussion. The only people in the room besides me were my moot partner, the other team, and the 3 “judges.”
