Hi everyone! Happy New Year to y'all!

Happy to know any tips for clerkship/articling interviews with Alberta courts. I have a panel of a few Justices and a legal counsel with the Alberta Court of Justice, so if there is anything specific to know about the ABCJ or Alberta courts that'll be helpful!

Also would be great to go through the different fields of law I may be asked about or the different types of questions. From OCIs I remember private firms had a lot to do with resume/personality-based and behavourial questions. I understand it might be different for the courts so any input on this will be helpful as well.

Thanks!

Unless they've changed things in the past few years, the interviews are relatively relaxed and informal, and they don't quiz candidates about substantive law. You'll be asked about your volunteer and work experience in law, classes, even interests. You will probably be asked a question that enables you to provide an analysis of a specific case of your choosing that you encountered in school but that's the extent of actual substantive legal knowledge involved.

Thank you for your input @CleanHands! Good to hear the interviews are not too strict if they still continue like that from the past few days. I've just messaged you with a few specific questions so happy to hear from you when time.

I would also be interested to hear from anyone has some recent experience interviewing with the ABKB or ABCA.
