Hey y’all!

Given that the deadlines for clerkship applications to the SCC, FCA and FC were earlier this week…

I guess it might be time to open the thread for all questions related to the clerkship application process(es) for 2026-2027!

Good luck to everyone -including those who are still in the process of applying to the ONCA and other courts whose deadline only comes later this week!

I was not able to find an existing topic for this year, if I am mistaken, let me know.

Shoutout to those who are still in the process of applying (ONCA et al)

Based on past years, do we know when first interview invites go out? (Particularly interested in inteviews for BCSC & BCCA)

Thanks! I guess that time line may not be accurate this year if interviews can start Jan. 29.

Would love to know when one would hear back from the FC and FCA whether they are offering an interview or not....also how does that process work: does a judge write to you by email or are you called by phone?

I received an email from the judge's current clerk.

Mine was with Stratas JA, who I understand from last year's thread typically moves early.

Makes sense. Locke said in a panel last year that he gives a list of criteria to his clerk and the clerk goes through the applications, reduces the list to a few names and send them over to him. I think several justices do the same, ie delegate part of the process to their clerk.

I am a bit worried my application was completed too late. (within the deadlines, but transcript sent later as it was not ready).
My official transcript was sent to the federal courts and the Ontario superior court of justice end of last week.

Oh well, we'll see.

Also, for those who sent their OFFICIAL transcript after the deadline (aka not on ViLaw), did you receive confirmation ? I sent it last week by email but I haven't received any confirmation that they received it and that my application was complete. I love the federal court's website application, because at least I know my references and transcript were received lol

No idea about the deadline part of this. In general they don't send a confirmation, but on MyCreds you can see whether they opened the transcript you shared with them.

Has anyone heard from BC Courts? The website says they plan to begin interviews tomorrow, so presumably people have been notified already?

Has anyone received their teams link for BCCA or BCSC? I am booked tomorrow at 930am but have not received a link despite booking shortly after getting the offer yesterday afternoon. (I have a confirmation email and I have already emailed the courts)

I don't know if this is comforting to know or if it should worry me haha

Has anyone received an interview invite from a bilingual FCA judge yet?

Last year, depending on the judge involved, I either got an email from the judge herself, an email from the courts' administrative service, or a call. All three scenarios happened. Just as some interviews were with the judge alone whereas others involved their current clerk.

I got a position with the FC so not applying again this year but I assume that judges are still free to proceed as they see fit, they may rely on the administrative services, let their clerks do the work, call or email etc...  some will also schedule interviews very early whereas others will do so relatively "late".
