Retake a class?

I am in 3rd year, just started second semester. I did really well in all my classes except for one. A prof was super strict with citations and gave me a 0 on one of my assignments because of "plagiarism" which left  my grade at a 63, even tho all my other grades in the class were 90s.  this class is going to heavily impact my L2.

I told the prof how upset I was about this and how much it impacted my gpa for law school applications, she recommended I retake the class. Should I retake this?

Will law schools look down on this?

I am willing to do whatever helps my chances, I would just take it as an extra class in the summer.

This gets repeated ad nauseam, but it depends on the school. If it's UBC or UVic, then they drop some of your worst courses and it does not present a huge issue for you.

Otherwise, you're correct. For schools looking at L2 (Western), B2 (Queens), or B3 (U of T), or possibly cGPA (Osgoode), then the poor mark will impact your application.

I am 99% sure retaking a class does not remove the course from your transcript (someone can correct me on this if I am wrong). What you should do is report your professor to the dean and attempt to have your assignment re-graded if i) you've chatted with them about the grade, and are still not content with the rationale and ii) you're confident that his standard of strict review led to a disproportionate outcome.

I feel for you though. If it was a matter of missing a few page numbers or mis-typing an author's name here and there, the professor should not have given you a 0, but just deduct points like any other level-headed person. You need to chat with the professor first though before going over their head.
