Can firms withdraw articling offers?

Context: 3L, currently signed an articling offer at a Toronto firm.

With everything going on south of the border and a possible economic recession/reduction in cross-border deals on the horizon, I am curious if firms are going to begin leaning out and possibly letting go of articling students - prior to them beginning. Not sure if my classmates and I are panicking, the concern was actually brought up by a lecturer and had a few of us in quite the stir.

Letting go of articling students is extremely far down the list of budget-saving measures a firm would do. They are simply not a major cost and the reputation hit isn't worth it to pretty much any firm.

The forecasted recession if the tariff remains in place is simply not that big of a deal in the big picture. You don't need to panic.
