Part B statement- truly optional?

At a U of T info session, the admissions staff stressed that the "optional" statement is highly recommended for everyone to fill out, as an opportunity for you to put more information about yourself in front of the admissions committee.

Osgoode's Part B is also described as optional but it definitely seems to be more catered to people who have overcome substantial barriers, unlike the U of T optional statement. Since I don't think any of the criteria apply to me, I was not planning on writing anything for this section. I was wondering if this is generally acceptable or if the "optional" statement is highly recommended like U of T's.

Not necessary at all. I, along with a number of fellow classmates, did not fill out Part B. Like you, it did not apply to me, so I wouldn't stretch to find something that certainly would come off as disingenuous. You'll be fine as long as you have good stats and EC's.
