LSO Connects Application Progress at 75% despite completing articling and passing both bar exams.

Hello everyone,

I recently passed the Solicitor exam (written Feb. 27) and have officially completed all requirements in order to be called to the bar in June.

  • Completed Barrister in June 2024
  • Completed Articling in February 2025

Despite this, my progress circle on LSO Connects still shows 75% completed with both the articling and examinations still showing "incomplete". I messaged LSO and they said it would be updated accordingly and takes time, but everyone I know has had their percentage go up.

For those that just completed their requirements, how long should it take? I also know some people that got their "Call to the Bar" email already.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

If you passed the exams and it's not showing up on the LSO website, then this is a glitch or data entry error that the LSO needs to fix. Hopefully it will be quick. Once that's in order, you'll get a message on the LSO portal to select a "ceremonial call" or "administrative call"  and pay your yearly LSO fees (~$260). Ceremonial will be in June (around June 19) and administrative can be quicker depending on when you get the message from LSO. With the administrative call option, you need to upload your own sworn document with your "Oath" ("I swear to uphold the high standards of the profession...").

It actually seems you have 2 things holding you back: I think the "articling" line should say "complete" even if the LSO has not officially figured out you passed the exams. You might want to message them about that as well. Did you articling principle complete all of the paperwork?

I sent them a message through LSO Connects and they said

"It will be updated accordingly, it will take some time as you become fully licensed."

Also, regarding articling, there's no more paperwork to be filed after LSO Connects was launched. All you have to do is answer:

  • When your articling ended
  • Did it end earlier then the date originally submitted
  • Final number of months

Per LSO:

Articling Placement Record

When an articling placement ends, candidates must enter their end of placement information in their Articling Placement Record on LSO Connects no later than 10 business days after the end of an articling placement.

Principals must review the end of placement information submitted by their articling students to verify the information is correct. Principals will be notified in LSO Connects when their articling student has submitted information that must be reviewed. Upon review, should the information entered be incorrect, a principal has an obligation to advise the Law Society by sending a message through LSO Connects.

____

I already did all of that the day it ended and the status for my articling says "end of placement approved".
