Importance of Personal Statement?

Does U of A even consider the personal statement, or is admissions purely determined by GPA+LSAT index?

If it is the latter, what is the point of submitting a personal statement? Just curious.

Back in 2018, I received an acceptance before they even received my personal statement. Unless something has changed, the personal statement isn't a consideration for most applicants (although it is still required). The personal statement is mainly for the last 15-25 spots which receive holistic consideration instead of going off LSAT/GPA alone.

At the orientation, the Dean usually refers to some of the cool things that some of the entering students have done in the past. So even if your LSAT/GPA are sufficiently high to receive an early acceptance, they will still read and possibly take notes on your personal statement.
