What is the point of provisionally accepting an offer?

Hey everybody,

Sorry if this may sound dumb, but looking for some advice here - recently got accepted into one of my top choices for school, and I am really confused about the whole "provisional acceptance" concept on OLSAS. Since I would like to wait and hear back from a few of my other options before I make my final choice, is there a point to provisionally accepting an offer now, or should I just hold on given that the offer only expires on April 1st?

You can provisionally accept which means you're currently committed to that school but your other applicants remain open and you're eligible for more offers. If you firm accept, it withdraws your other applications, so you should just provisionally accept for now. Congrats on the acceptance tho

Follow-up question: I have an offer that expires before July 1st. It says on OLSAS that provisional acceptances become firm on July 1st. Would my offer expire if I provisionally accept now, or would it become firm whenever the expiry date is?

It would become firm after that date if you provisionally accepted now.
