Athabasca University Grades

Hey everyone!

After the completion of my first undergradute, I took a full year (27 credits) worth of courses at Athabasca University in their bachelor of science program. Would UofA consider the grades from this year as part of a recognized program or would I be classified as a special or uncalssified student? I now realize that a lot of the courses I completed transfer to UofA as 1XX level courses so being a special student would kinda suck as UofA wont count them. My understanding is that they would count if they recognize it as a degree program, but I was not sure how the university views BSc students at Athabasca so was wondering if anyone has experience here.

Appreciate any insights in this, thanks!

I was wondering this as well, actually! I took a few courses at Athabasca (registered in a BA program) prior to transfering to UofA.

I don't have any concrete insight for you about how UofA looks at AU courses/programs, but I expect that your courses will be counted, because you were registered in a BSc program.

At the top of my AU transcript, it says: Current Program of Study: Bachelor of Arts - 4 Year Major(s) in Psychology. I expect (hope) that this is enough for UofA to be able to identify that my courses were taken as part of a program.

Good luck!!

Save yourself some heartbreak, give admissions a call. Quick 5 minute conversation and you'll get a concrete answer instead of best guesses from other applicants.

i can answer this, they count no need to save yourself the heartbreak I already looked. Last 20 courses including masters degrees and summer courses are used to calcualte your admission gpa. I also completed a degree at Athabasca prior to applying.

On the flip side of this coin, I forgot to include my Athabasca transcript in my application (because I only took one course years before, and it wasn't in a degree context). I got a rather stern e-mail from Admissions about the fact that I had withheld marks from them. So you can bet that they care about receiving them. 😉

They want every single mark so I am not entirely sure why someone would comment that it doesn't matter. Best of luck to you all!
