The Strategic Advisor, Indigenous Tax identifies and analyzes tax policy issues, develops policy options, evaluates implications and provides high quality and comprehensive objective advice and recommendations that are effectively communicated to senior management and the Minister of Finance. The Strategic Advisor ensures advice is based on sound research and analysis and that government policy decisions are accurately implemented through legislation, regulations, and negotiated agreements. The Strategic Advisor also provides written and verbal briefings for the Minister and senior management and work with considerable independence to lead major projects and project teams. 

Unique to this position, the Strategic Advisor, Indigenous Tax develops First Nation taxation policy options and treaty mandates, establishes and maintains strong working relationships with a number of BC First Nations and represents the ministry at First Nations treaty negotiations.
