Hi friends,

What are some paths one can take during the summer after 1L to earn money? 

To my understanding, only a small percentage of students manage to get BL. What other professional options are there? 

Corporate internship (Not sure how they will treat a law student?)

startup internship (Not sure how they will treat a law student?)

legal summer student at mid and small firms

legal summer student at corporations and government agencies

school research positions

....am I missing anything?

Most schools should have clinic positions in the summer. There are also some public interest positions available and schools usually offer some sort of funding for them.
