How do schools calculate the best 2 years or last 2 years if you are going into your 4th year when applying? Do they do it based on the last 4 semesters you completed or do they look at 2nd and 3rd year?

Best 2: If you're applying while you're in 4th year, schools will either wait for your winter grades, or they'll use your 3rd and 2nd year, assuming you meet their criteria for a full course load.

Last 2: Schools will just count back your last twenty credits, and if they end on a semester and still don't have the full 20, they'll go back and use another semester, so you could end up with more than 20 courses in your L20 calculation. Similar to Best 2, schools will either wait for winter marks, or they'll count back starting from fall courses in your last year. It's my understanding that if your stats are competitive enough, they Don't wait to see your winter marks, but if you're on the fence, they could defer and see how your winter grades turn out
