How to get a Toronto Big Law job if your school doesn't participate in Toronto OCIs?

How are you able to land a Toronto Big Law job for your 2L summer if your school doesn't participate in the formal recruit/OCIs? Do I just apply via viLawPortal and hope for the best?

I'm sorry to say that I genuinely don't know. Is your school in Canada? If so, could your career office point you in the right direction even though they don't formally participate?

I don’t know what schools don’t participate in ocis, but I received at least one (maybe more, can’t recall) in firm interview from a firm that that didn’t do oci interviews at my school, but did them at others.

I had a similar experience. I think just applying on viLawPortal and hoping for the best is the way to go.

Email your school career office - step 1. 

If your school's career office can't help, email the recruiters at individual firms to ask - step 2.
