I'm currently working at one of the big three firms out in Atlantic Canada as a 1L and got offered to come back next year as a 2L + articling. I'm currently waiting on my Ontario transfer decision and hoping to apply to the Toronto recruit. My ultimate goal is to come back home (GTA) but I don't want to regret this decision in case I don't land anything during OCIs. Can someone please help me out, I'm not too sure what to do. I don't want to take this offer and than leave if I secure something during the Toronto recruit but it feels like it's looking like that. Please help!

If your ultimate goal is to go back to GTA, then you should turn down their offer and go for OCI and Articling recruit. Since you got a 1L position at a big firm*, you will be fine at OCI and Articling Recruit later (or even after).

*I assumed that you had a good 1L marks and you will continue to get good marks in 2L, which is generally easier to do than in 1L.
