Email Applications

Hi all, 

Does anyone have any insight into what is appropriate to write in the body of an email when firms ask for applications by email. Should I only be putting "I have attached to here my application materials for (insert position)." I feel like I should say something else but I am not sure what is saying too much and what too little.

You generally want something more than just “please find attached”. Something along the lines of:

Dear [name of hiring person],

My name is [name], and I am writing to apply for a [summer student/articling student/associate] position at [name of firm]. I am currently a [student/articling student/whatever] at [wherever you study/work].

Please find attached my application, which consists of my cover letter, resume, and transcript. Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional information. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
