Hi there,

I am interviewing with the DOJ Toronto Office this coming Thursday and was wondering, for anyone who has done this before, whether they can share what sort of questions I should be anticipating and how to prepare for them. Thanks very much.

I interviewed with the Toronto Office recently. I was asked a set of standardized questions. While I don't feel comfortable simply reproducing the questions I was asked, I prepared for the interview by: (1) familiarizing myself with the role, mandate, practice areas, etc., of the DOJ, (2) considering why I wanted to work for the DOJ, (3) studying a Supreme Court case I enjoyed from 1L, and (4) practicing basic situational questions.

The Career Office at my school also produced a document containing sample questions students had been asked in previous years, so it might be worth looking into whether yours has created something similar.

Had the interview today. I thought it went well; they did ask a lot more behavioural questions than I anticipated. Alas, I didn't get to show off my knowledge of the DOJ structure/mandate lol. I am not sure when or if I will hear back.
