Osgoode Law School - Is the optional essay 'optional'?

Planning on applying to Osgoode, how optional is the optional essay if none of the topics really apply?

I know for the University of Toronto its basically a requirement, is this also the case for Osgoode?

I second the previous comment. I would add only that it is "optional" in the sense that your application will be seen as complete without it. But it gives you a chance to explain other aspects of your life that you didn't get to explain in other parts of your application.
