When should I expect a call?

I had three firms I was highly interested in and mentioned they were my top choices and first choiced one of them. It's almost been 10 minutes since Call Day is officially started and I still haven't received a phone call. Is it too late? When is it considered too late?

People who received offers can ask for up to 24 hours to decide, so you could be offered one of those spots anytime in the next day. But in practice the chances of a spot opening decrease with every couple mins past 5:00pm and some firms will call waitlist candidates to let them know to standby, so without hearing anything I wouldn't really expect a first communication after 6:00pm.

I would email to thank them for interviewing you and ask for feedback. My friend got hired the next day after he sent that email. Also worked for my girlfriend in a different profession. You have nothing to lose at this point.

Took this advice and just sent an email and received an answer within 3 minutes - managing partner said it's a numbers game and couldn't make an offer.
