Secondments while working at DoJ

When I am cruising the federal government’s jobs website I often see secondment postings (in other departments) open to all government employees. 
 

If you were working as a LP-01 or LP-02, is there any real possibility of being accepted to one of these (non-legal) secondments? I understand there are certain managerial approvals needed to accept a secondment position. Does anybody have any experience doing this?
