Should I do JD/JID program (4 years) at UVic or JD program (3 years) at Osgoode. I'm from BC but not Vancouver Island and worried about moving away from home, UVic is closer but the program is longer. Additionally, I'm an Indigenous applicant and I'm passionate about Indigenous law but I'm worried that if I find another area of interest in law school I may be stuck with specializing in Indigenous law related stuff. Toronto also looks really cold.

What do you mean you're worried if you find another area of interest in law school, you'll be stuck specializing in Indigenous law?

If you're really passionate about Indigenous law and don't want to move too far, UVic seems like the better option.

I just don't know that they separate the JD from the JID, it seems like curriculum is different and even the JD aspect is Indigenous focused. Small cohort, separate from JD students and land-based learning as well. I don't know that the JD from the JD/JID program will be well recognized as opposed to a JD from Osgoode. Although I'm passionate about Indigenous justice, I would like the opportunity to learn about other law disciplines as well.
