LASL/TMU vs. UAlberta for Corporate/BL?

Looking for any insight as to whether Lincoln Alexander at TMU or U of A would be better for corporate law/BL.

For context, I’d like to practice in Vancouver (1) or Toronto (2nd choice).

I understand UAlberta was ranked by Maclean’s as #2 in the country for elite firm hiring, but that might be a bit outdated because that was in 2014. And U of A is nationally recognized and has a large alumni network due to being one of the first law schools in Canada.

On the other hand, 2L and 3L hiring numbers for TMU look promising for future classes and it sounds like they have better networking opportunities.

Anyone have any thoughts? I’m fairly in the dark between the two options. Thanks in advance, everyone.

Depends on how big of a gap there is between the intensity of your preferences for Vancouver and Toronto. If you have an intense preference for Vancouver and a much weaker preference for Toronto, then UofA is a better choice for you. Rankings are pretty irrelevant, especially for schools that aren't UofT, UBC, Osdooge and maybe McGill. UofA is cheaper; it has many scholarships/bursaries that might put you into very little debt, if any, coming out of law school; it has good geographical and networking proximity to Vancouver; it has better merch.

If the gap between your preferences for Vancouver and Toronto isn't huge, then I'm not sure.
