Articling at DOJ 2024-2025 (pool)

Hello 🙂

Last month I interviewed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the Legal Excellence Program. Unfortunately, I didn't get an offer, but I was told I had succeeded the interview and was placed in a pool of successful candidates. Apparently, this pool has less than 10 candidates.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it likely that the DOJ will hire articling students within this pool before the 2024 articling term begins?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

If someone were to withdraw their acceptance from the LEP program, then a spot may open up; but I suspect this scenario would be unlikely. Regarding additional spots opening up for the LEP program, I'm really not sure - although I haven't heard of this happening.

Throughout the July and August, however, people from the pool often receive e-mails for interviews from other federal departments/agencies, such as Elections Canada, the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada, the Office of the Auditor General, etc., who will be looking for articling students.
