Alberta Hirebacks- Lateraling Right After Articles

Recently finished articling at a large firm in Edmonton. Long story short I didn't get a hireback even though the firm said they liked my work, just said they couldn't hire all of us back and someone had to be cut. And it was me. I've been trying to find a job the last six weeks, but it seems no one is interested in hiring a brand new call. Striking out everywhere. Existential crisis here! Any tips on what to do/where to look? Any advice on lateral movement right after articling?

Have you talked to your main work providers during articling? Try to see if they have anyone in their network looking. Assuming they liked your work and wanted to hire you back but struck out at the firm-level decision / didn't have the business case, they should be willing to give you a hand.
