Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on answering interview questions related to law school grades, for example:

- I noticed you didn't do so well in *insert course(s)* why did this happen?

- you say you're interested in *insert practise area* but we noticed you did not score well in this course. Why are you still interested in this area?

I am struggling to answer this question without seeming like I'm making excuses and would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

If this question came up (it didn't), I had planned to say that I misunderstood some key concepts but followed up with the Professor after the exam and was able to figure out where I went wrong. Most lawyers know that a grade in a course is not a true reflection of your ability or interest in that area, so if you don't just blame the Prof or exam and show that you were proactive in addressing what happened, you'll likely be fine.

Don't try to justify a bad grade. Own it! Explain why it happened and what you learned from the experience, and move on.
