Hey everyone!

Wondering what my chances are at UBC/U of T/Osgoode? I'm a mature student from Vancouver with 5+ years of work in a professional healthcare occupation, 7+ years as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces reserves, and 4+ years teaching part-time in the same healthcare-related profession program at UBC. I understand my GPA is well below the median for all of these schools, but I'm hoping the admissions committees will consider my personal statement and see from my long-term involvement in academic and community commitments that I won't make the same mistakes I did in undergrad (i.e. believe that this was my final career and not try as hard as I should have). I have excellent references who have known me for many years as well who can speak positively about my work.

I doubt it matters but for all years for my undergrad, I was taking much more than a full course load, 35-42 credits versus a standard course load of 30 credits per academic year. With the exception of my second-last year, during which I experienced family hardship, the record does show a significant upward trend.

My situation is pretty unique and identifiable so my apologies if my work experience/personal information was kept deliberately vague, part of me is (unjustifiably)worried admissions officers look at these forums 🤣

Thanks in advance for any insights/recommendations - browsing this forum has been super helpful and best of luck to any fellow future classmates!
