Is NOT applying as an access or discretinary applicant bad?

I've had multiple life-threatening injuries, a mental illness diagnosis, CTE, and financial hardship (two part-time jobs throughout undergrad 40-45 hours a week). I've already applied to Ontario schools and have chosen to apply as a general applicant in all of them. Is it bad to not apply as access or discretionary? While the events I've lived through have affected my academics negatively at times, I never had a firm belief that they held me back or warranted me being reconsidered during the admission process. Am I stupid/griefing ? What does everyone think about this?

It's not bad, but you are hindering yourself if you do not find a way to talk about your experiences and the impact they have had on your on academics.
