Is there a typical amount of time a school gives to each offer candidate to accept that offer?  If someone gets an early acceptance to one Ontario school is it likely they will have to at least provisionally accept that offer before hearing from schools who are later in the cycle?

You normally must accept your offer by the start of April or something like that. If you’re accepted in December, you can sit on your offer until the deadline.

The deadline depends on each school. Some schools may ask for a confirmation deposit by the end of march while some may ask for it at the end of April. Also if you receive an admittance letter at a later date then there usually isn't a deadline due to the start of the semester approaching.

I was given 2 weeks to accept in late May by Queen's. What others have said is generally the case though.
