Western Ontario First year salary

Hi, I am curious what to expect for a first year salary in western Ontario region for a mid sized firm or small firm irrespective of the type of law.

Any input would be appreciated.

That's just far too broad a question. Salaries vary wildly between practice areas, cities and firms. Any number you'd be given would be useless because there isn't any sort of lockstep or average to be found between all types of laws in such a broad geographic area. If you could narrow it down a bit, either to a city or practice area, it would be easier to give an answer.

@LMP Apologies for any inconvenience. I'm interested in knowing the first year salary for positions in business law, insurance defense, or health law at firms such as Lerners, Miller Thomson, Siskinds, or other mid-sized firms. This pertains to locations like London, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Hamilton.

I'll start with the bad news, I don't have those numbers for you, hopefully someone else comes along who is more familiar with the area.

However I know some of these firms do list their articling salaries for the regions you mentioned. I think, for example, Siskinds London is about $1000/week, which is pretty rough compared to Toronto rates but there ya go. Checking out the firms websites might yield more articling pay (form which you might be able to make some inferences), but for first year call stuff you'll have to wait for someone more familiar with the region to come along.
