Semester Abroad (Academic exchange) - How is it regarded by employers

I am considering doing a semester abroad/academic exchange and was just wondering if there are any disadvantages?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It is very common to do an exchange. There's not really any disadvantage so long as you take it in 3L.

If you have a job lined up it's low risk as they won't care. If you don't have a job lined up it could make things a bit tougher as you won't be able to network, attend interviews, cold call as easily, etc. and you may be in the bucket of trying to demonstrate interest for a specific practice area and lose the chance to do so through courses and local events and opportunities.
