Working while prepping for bar exam

Hello all,

I'm thinking of picking up a casual job between finishing classes and starting articling (my previous experience would make this possible). This is for financial reasons. Obviously some people work while prepping for the bar? I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for doing this.

I know I'm slightly ahead of the game but I'm an anxious planner.

These types of questions (and similar with studying for LSAT while working) are difficult to answer because it depends a lot on your approach to studying and preparation.

Personally, I think it would be very difficult to study for the bar while working full time, but I also read all the materials myself and made my own index. Maybe not the most efficient but that's how I learned the material and felt confident walking into the exam. Plus I came from out of province so didn't have any Ontario law school friends to study with 😞

I'm sure there are others on here who will say it's no big deal and you can just use a good index and wing it and don't have to read the materials.

So I think it depends on what type of person/student you are. You could theoretically get an index and then minimally study and not read the materials and pass the exams while working full time. Or you could read all the materials, which is much more time consuming, and would not likely leave time for a full time job.

Maybe part time would be a happy medium.
