Summer student pay Ontario (outside GTA)

I’m wondering how much I could expect to be paid as a summer student at a small-medium sized firm outside the GTA?

I’m hoping I can do better than minimum wage, but I’m really just looking for experience at this point. I don’t want to come off as rude or ungrateful if they ask me what I think I should be making and I go too high.

Yeah, I’d think like minimum wage would be the going rate for this type of summer job.

I can actually speak to this because I got offers from a variety of firms from around the GTA. During the 1L recruit the lowest end I was offered was $650 for 35 hours (no overtime pay). On the upper end I was offered $800 for 35 hours of work (no overtime pay). There were offers in-between this. During 2L I received a pay increase.

Thanks @Apple! This is helpful 🙂

Had multiple offers from non GTA firms. Ranging from 3 -12 lawyers.

Average was about $1000/week with only one of the firms offering overtime.

Possible to get up to $1600 a week plus whatever you can earn doing overtime. All of these examples come from Simcoe - Muskoka.
